November is quickly coming to a close. Indian Summer has been in full glory with warm days, beautiful blue skies, and fantastic fall colors.
There are many blessings we can be thankful for this Thanksgiving. It is time to reflect upon the thankfulness of God’s love, family, friends, the security of a home, clothing, food, medical professionals, our military forces, freedom, and so much more.
Following are a few verses from the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5: 7-9 (NIV) Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Count Your Blessings
1)When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Chorus:
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
2)Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
Chorus:
3)When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold.
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy,
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high.
Chorus:
4)So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all,
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you in your journey’s end.
Chorus:
Thanksgiving
Prayer By: Ralph Waldo Emerson
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
