These are super easy to make and have a great spicy kick to them to get the fall season started. Ingredients: 1 small ripe banana, mashed (about 1/3 of a cup) 1/4 cup shortening 1 egg 1 cup all-purpose flour 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon allspice 1/8 teaspoon cloves 1/4 cup milk 1/3 cup roasted finely chopped pecans Combine banana and shortening; beat at high speed of a hand-held mixer 2 minutes. Add milk; beat till combined. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to banana mixture; stir well. Stir in milk and pecans. Pour batter into a greased 13x9x2 baking pan. Batter will be very thin. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Remove when a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cut into 2 inch squares. Michele Tracey, Food Editor
