Psalm 150: 3-6 (NIV) Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
February is Heart month. Music and Valentine’s Day go together like chocolate and roses! Couples have a favorite song. My husband and I loved the musical theme from the movie ‘Somewhere in Time.” It was our song. A Valentine dinner can be romantic with just the right music.
Music is an integral part of our daily lives. It affects us physically. It can set our feet a tapping to all genres of music. People use the rhythm of music for various exercise activities. It is proven that singing relieves stress and is good for our health. Music therapy is used to heal our mind, body, and soul.
Music affects us emotionally; either with happy, loving, free spirited feelings, or with sadness and sorrow. Weddings have music of love, joy, and fun. Birthdays and other parties would not be complete without music. Children create their own music. They dance whenever the music moves them, no matter where they are. Music can bring peace and healing to someone in the hospital. Funerals have music to heal the hearts of the bereaved.
Plato stated “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness. Gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and lends to all that is good and just and beautiful.” Simply put. We need music in our lives. MUSIC IS LOVE.
