Thanksgiving Reflections

Topaz is a transparent stone that can reflect a variety of colors, including blue, yellow, red, and brown. The other birthstone for November is citrine, known for its beautiful yellow hue. These colors are very prominent in autumn. The stones seem to accentuate this month of gratefulness.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect upon all the various blessings throughout the year. Time to gather with with family and friends to share a special day of love and laughter, good food, football, and shopping. However, we need to first reflect on grateful hearts for our daily blessings. As it is said, ” What would happen if you only had today what you thanked God for yesterday?” A pondering thought. Being thankful for all God provides for us should be expressed everyday. A friend suggested this, instead of Thanksgiving, we should call it Thanksliving.  With gratitude comes renewed hope, joy, and faith.

A Thanksgiving Prayer
O God, our provider, you open your hand and lavish good gifts upon us.
So we give you thanks.
“Thank you” seems insufficient for all your blessings,
yet we say it with all we are as an “offering” of gratitude
for our many blessings that we name before you.
Amen
(Presbyterian prayer)
