Beautiful Christmas Eve

Moon over Bethlehem
Moon over Bethlehem

“For unto us a child is born. His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (King James)

In December of 2007, the Knoxville Choral Society had the opportunity to travel to Israel. The concert tour was entitled: “Prepare the Way Concert Tour of 2007.” This included performing in Nazareth, Amman, Jordan, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem. Each place we visited seem to be a highlight. Being able to have Communion at the Mount of Beatitudes and The Garden of Gethsemane was so special and heartwarming. Also, entering into Jordan was unusual. Not many tour groups are permitted entrance. We were able to see Jerash, Mount Nebo, Jericho, and perform for the Director of Tourism.

Each place we toured was part of the life of Jesus. Walking in His steps was amazing; such as  Capharnaum, the Jordan River, entering Jerusalem through the Lion’s Gate, Via Dolorosa, the Mount of Olives, and the Garden of Gethsemane.

The final concert was on a cold Christmas Eve at Bethlehem Square where The Church of  the Nativity is located.   We were able to perform with a youth orchestra from Jordan. This was truly an awe inspiring evening of music. Singing  the “Hallelujah” chorus from The Messiah brought tears of love and joy to me. A full moon was over the church. A time that will always stand still in my memory!

Music has given me such joy my entire life. God has blessed me with loving music and sharing it with others. May  you have a Merry Christmas as you celebrate the birth of Christ.
